The Land That Shaped a Cup

The Land That Shaped a Cup

Assam isn’t just a place on the map — it’s a climate, a rhythm, a mood. The monsoon rains, the silt-rich Brahmaputra, the humidity that drives most visitors to shade — all of it conspires to make tea here unlike anywhere else.

When tea planting began seriously in the 1850s, planters quickly realised Assam was different. The leaves grew faster, darker, bolder. It wasn’t genteel like Darjeeling; it was robust, earthy, full of life — a reflection of its geography.

That strength still defines Assam tea. Each cup carries a trace of thunderclouds, sunbursts, and river breeze. A century and a half later, we’re still proud to say: it all happens here, in our garden soil.
